  1. Purpose of Badges

Badges on TribalArt.com are designed to help users identify sellers and contributors who meet certain platform-defined criteria. Badges are intended to improve transparency and trust within the marketplace, but they do not replace independent research or due diligence by buyers.

  1. Badge Types

Verified Dealer

A Verified Dealer is a user who has demonstrated an established history of dealing in tribal or ethnographic art and has provided information reasonably sufficient for TribalArt.com to confirm their identity and activity as a dealer.

What it means:

  • Identity and dealer activity have been reviewed by TribalArt.com
  • The dealer is actively engaged in the marketplace

What it does NOT mean:

  • No guarantee of authenticity, value, or quality
  • Not an endorsement of individual items
  • Not a professional certification or license

Expert

An Expert is a user recognized for specialized knowledge, experience, or scholarship in a particular area of tribal or ethnographic art.

What it means:

  • Demonstrated subject-matter knowledge
  • May provide opinions, commentary, or educational insight

What it does NOT mean:

  • Not a guarantee of accuracy or completeness
  • Not investment advice
  • Not a promise of future market value

 

Appraiser

An Appraiser is a user permitted to offer valuation or appraisal services, which may be offered for a fee.

What it means:

  • May provide written or verbal valuation opinions
  • May offer paid appraisal services

What it does NOT mean:

  • Appraisals are subjective opinions, not guarantees
  • Not insurance valuations unless explicitly stated
  • Not binding for resale, tax, or legal purposes unless separately agreed
  1. Badge Criteria & Review

Badge eligibility is determined by TribalArt.com at its sole discretion and may include, but is not limited to:

  • Information submitted by the user
  • Professional background or experience
  • Transaction history or community participation
  • Compliance with platform rules

TribalArt.com may request additional information at any time and does not guarantee badge approval.

  1. Badge Fees & Monetization (If Applicable)

Certain badges or related features may require payment, including but not limited to:

  • Appraiser designation
  • Expert service listings
  • Enhanced visibility or featured placement
  • Paid appraisal or consultation tools

All fees, billing terms, and renewal conditions will be disclosed prior to purchase. Fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated.

  1. Use of Badges

Users may display badges only on their TribalArt.com profile and listings as permitted by the platform.

Prohibited uses include:

  • Claiming or displaying badges not granted to you
  • Using badges off-platform in a misleading way
  • Implying TribalArt.com guarantees transactions or values
  • Transferring or selling badge status
  1. Badge Revocation

TribalArt.com reserves the right to suspend or revoke any badge at any time, with or without notice, including for:

  • Misrepresentation or fraud
  • Violation of Terms of Use or policies
  • Complaints indicating misuse or consumer harm
  • Failure to maintain eligibility criteria

Badge revocation does not entitle users to refunds unless explicitly stated.

  1. Limitation of Liability

Badges are informational tools only. TribalArt.com is not responsible for losses, damages, or disputes arising from reliance on badges, expert opinions, or appraisals.

All users acknowledge that transactions and services are entered into at their own risk.

  1. Relationship to Terms of Use

This Badge Policy is incorporated into and governed by the TribalArt.com Terms of Use. In the event of a conflict, the Terms of Use control.
